Madame Tussauds

Madame Tussauds waxworks exhinbition is high on the must visit list of most tourists. Marie Tussaud was the daughter of a housekeeper to Dr Curtius who himself was a skilled waxworks modeller. He taught her his skills and she developed it into a fine art modelling various famous people at the time including the King's mistress. She continued her modelling during the French revolution but after the death of Dr Curtius, she also inherited his models and began touring with them around europe, eventually settling in London. She opened the museum in 1835 and since then it has become a major attraction in London.
